Dog Problems
Many people go out and buy or adopt a puppy or dog each day for various reasons. As of 2006 there were nearly 72 million pet dogs in the United States. Most people want that pet that they can walk in the park, will protect them, will come when they are called, can perform basic commands, and generally obeys their owner. However, what they sometimes get is a disobedient pet that they don't know how to control.
Why are dogs disobedient?
There are many answers to this question. If you ask any animal professional you will probably realize this. One common reason is boredom. Your dog will behave poorly to get your attention. By becoming a problem, he or she will make you notice them. Lack of activity can lead to a dog's disobedience. Dog's need mental and physical stimulation and without organized play and exercise they will find other ways that can be destructive. Also, dogs are pack animals. They will look to obey their pack leader. If they don't see you as the pack leader then they may tend to do as they please. Dogs and especially puppies are like children. If an owner acts as a "good parent" then they will have a "good dog." Usually, a dog coming into your home has no prior training and they never come with manuals. Just because a dog was purchased from the best breeder does not mean that they already know how to come, sit, stay, and walk on a leash. All dogs can be trained. However, it does take work on the owners part.
A variety of negative dog behaviors such as aggression, barking, and chewing can drive an owner to seek dog training resources. Some owners even get to the point where they consider giving their dog away or taking he or she to the pound. I recommend not doing this a making a concerted effort to train your "best friend." As people begin training their dog, they will not only see improved behavior but will also have time to establish a bond with their pet. By properly training your dog, you will have many years of quality time with your pet and will not be disappointed and continually angry with he or she. Everybody can have that dog that everyone is "amazed at how well they behave." It just takes time and effort on the owners part. But is their anything worthwhile that doesn't take time and effort.
